Job Summary
Drive a school bus to transport students along established routes on an as-needed, part-time basis. Ensure safety by performing daily inspections, practicing defensive driving, and adhering to DOT/State requirements. Maintain student order and discipline, report behavior issues, and coordinate with supervisors on stops and schedules. Responsibilities include loading/unloading students, assisting with wheelchair lifts, maintaining route sheets, communicating with the Superintendent's Office via two-way radio, and completing required training and testing (CDL, DOT physical, and related certifications).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by Indiana
- Must meet Indiana Department of Transportation physical requirements
- Blue Card
- Pass DOT physical and CDL skills tests (written and driving)
- Completion of required pre-service training (4 days)
- Ability to perform safety inspections and operate a school bus safely
- Ability to load/unload students and assist with wheelchair lifts
- Ability to maintain order and communicate with supervisors and parents
