Job Summary
6th grade Math Pre-AP Teacher at IDEA Yukon College Prep responsible for delivering state standards-aligned curricula and facilitating college-preparatory opportunities. Role includes mastering and delivering grade-level content, submitting weekly lesson plans, implementing formal/informal assessments, tracking student progress, and communicating progress to students and families. Responsibilities also include establishing a positive classroom culture, managing behavior, supporting tutoring sessions (after-school/Saturday), and participating in weekly meetings and school-wide activities. The position requires a strong commitment to IDEA’s mission, collaboration with colleagues, and the ability to work 40+ hours per week on-site in Odessa, TX.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field (Teacher certification preferred)
- K-12 classroom teaching experience (strongly preferred)
- State teaching certification preferred but not required
- Ability to implement state standards and IDEA curricula and assessments
- Ability to submit weekly lesson plans and manage assessments
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate progress with families weekly
- Willingness to work 40+ hours per week
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- K-12 teaching experience
- State teaching certification preferred
- Experience delivering AP/Pre-AP content or dual-enrollment programs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement lesson plans aligned to state standards
- Ability to track student progress and provide timely feedback
- Experience with classroom management and positive behavior supports
