Job Summary
The English/Language Arts teacher will deliver instruction aligned to Indiana Academic Standards for 6th grade ELA, employing differentiated instructional strategies and data-driven lesson planning. Responsibilities include supporting students with IEP accommodations, collaborating with a special education co-teacher and paraprofessional (with the lead teacher supervising paraprofessional duties), and co-planning with the grade-level team. Maintain an 8-Step Assessment Data process, manage grades in the SBCSC electronic grade book, monitor student progress, and prepare Quarterly Progress Reports. Engage families and support personnel in discussions about student progress and improvement plans, and participate in required staff meetings and professional development. Utilize SBCSC technology and uphold professional responsibilities in planning, implementing, and evaluating learning processes. Other duties as assigned by the principal.
Required Qualifications
- Language Arts License or Endorsement
- If you do not have a teaching license, you will be required to obtain a 1-year temporary emergency permit with the Indiana Department of Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Experience with the day-to-day operation of schools
- Strong knowledge of child development
- Demonstrated skill in building relationships, trust and respect; Creative and imaginative approach to problems
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents; strong speaking and writing abilities
