Job Summary
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area(s) assigned to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests. Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual differences and have written evidence of preparation upon request. Maintain accurate records and collaborate with administration, staff, and parents. Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum and instruction; effectively communicate both in written and oral forms; use technology and instructional media; employ varied instructional techniques; assess student progress regularly; refer students for evaluation as required; protect students, equipment, and facilities; supervise and guide teacher aides and volunteers; participate in staff development and comply with district policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and establish open lines of communication with students, parents, and the community. Plan and submit lesson plans in a timely manner and maintain grade records; meet with mentor teachers as needed; perform other duties as assigned. The role requires light travel and is conducted in an office/educational setting with moderate travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Meet Texas “highly qualified” standards
