6D Stepdown to ICU Pathway

Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned patients within the Step-Down to ICU pathway. Maintain professional accountability for care delivery, evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers, and coordinate patient care with other departments. Uphold patient rights and confidentiality while performing duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards. Develop critical thinking, assessment skills, and a strong knowledge base through an individualized career path designed for transfer to ICU within 12-18 months. Requires current RN licensure, BLS certification, and ability to lift 50 lbs with prolonged standing.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department-required timeframe: ACLS/ALS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses), OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse), BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), PEARS (Pediatric Asses...
