Job Summary
Assist in personal hygiene and provide first aid as needed; operate equipment such as copy machines, video equipment, and assistive devices; support the special education teacher in monitoring student objectives and maintaining files; help students develop self-help, communication, motor, and academic skills (Birth to 21) with planned activities; implement behavioral interventions and accommodate diverse needs; help provide access to core curriculum in various settings; participate in daily activities and data collection to track progress; assist in evaluating student performance and preparing instructional materials; supervise students during non-instructional periods; translate/interprete IEPs as required; meet PESB Fundamental Course of Study requirements; and perform related duties as assigned by administration.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate, or GED
- AA degree, or 48-semester credits or 72-quarter credits from an institution of higher education, or having successfully passed the Washington State Academic Assessment Praxis II Para Pro Test (WASST)
- Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, initiative
- Bilingual Preferred
- Must meet PESB requirements for the Fundamental Course of Study
