Job Summary
Provides direct support to students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher. Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, supporting student independence, supervising transitions and activities of daily living, reinforcing academic skills, assisting with ADLs (eating/feeding, transferring, mobility, dressing, hygiene), behavioral redirection and de-escalation, data collection for IEP goals, collaborating with case managers and related service providers, completing Third Party Billing documentation, and participating in required professional development. The role may be reassigned to different students, classrooms, buildings, or programs as determined by district administration. Requires a High School Diploma and either 60 college credits, an associate degree or higher, or a passing ParaPro/Paraeducator assessment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Have at least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits if earned in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education
- Hold an associate's degree or higher
- Have a passing score on an approved, formal assessment (ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment)
