Job Summary
Plan instructional tasks aligned with district curriculum and implement lessons that address diverse learning styles. Establish clear classroom rules, enforce procedures consistently, and manage transitions to maximize time on purposeful learning. Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs, conduct ongoing assessments, and communicate learning goals effectively. Provide effective classroom environments while engaging in professional growth and participating in school or community organizations. Report student progress to parents and conduct conferences in accordance with district policy. Complete required youth suicide awareness and prevention training and comply with all district requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Endorsements in the areas of teaching assignment
- Current, valid South Dakota teaching certificate
- Valid South Dakota teaching certification with the Self-Contained 5th-8th Grade endorsement
- At least one hour of approved youth suicide awareness and prevention training every five years
- Hand-eye, mind-eye coordination
- Constant hearing
- Intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing
- Frequent carrying, keyboarding, and other repetitive motions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skills in human relations, leadership and conflict management
- Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students
- Demonstrated skills in the use of technology to enhance student learning
