Job Summary
Engage 5th grade students with high-quality ELA instruction aligned with state standards. Design and deliver targeted literacy lessons, employing differentiated strategies and small-group work to meet diverse learners' needs. Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, refining instruction to support growth in reading and writing. Foster an inclusive, collaborative classroom environment that encourages student voice, critical thinking, and a growth mindset. Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, literacy specialists, and instructional coaches; maintain clear communication with families and participate in school and community activities. Westbrook Middle School solicits a diverse, equity-focused team dedicated to providing engaging, rigorous learning experiences for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Active teaching certification in Maine or eligible for certification
- Proof of certification (or in-process status) required
- Background check (CHRC) as part of the application process
- Resume, transcripts, proof of certification/licensure, and three letters of reference to be uploaded with application
- Experience or ability to design and implement literacy instruction aligned to state standards
