Job Summary
5th grade ELA classroom teacher needed to align instruction with NIET and CLASS rubrics, implement a standards-based program, and create an optimal learning environment. Responsibilities include planning lessons, maintaining grade books and reports, communicating with families and colleagues, complying with district policies, managing classroom behavior, supervising students, attending student discipline and IEP/SBLC meetings, participating in professional development and school events, and upholding professional ethics and confidentiality. Term of employment is nine months with duties across regular education and special education domains, as required by the Desoto Parish Public School System.
Required Qualifications
- United States citizen or authorized alien
- Louisiana Bulletin 746 (Louisiana Standards of State Certification of School Personnel)
- Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions
- REPORTS TO: School Principal
- SUPERVISES: Assigned Students
- TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine months (implies school-year contract)
- FLSA: Exempt
- Adheres to DeSoto Parish School Board policies including Sexual Harassment Policy
- State-certified teaching credential for 5th grade ELA (implied by district certification standards)
