Job Summary
Teach Tanakh and rabbinics courses in 5th and 6th grades while leading and supervising T'fillah. Deliver instruction using the Standards and Benchmarks model to foster skills development and personal meaning making, differentiating lessons to meet diverse learner needs. Cultivate havruta skills through the Pedagogy of Partnership framework and establish classroom routines aligned with the Responsive Classroom and Thoughtful Classroom models. Evaluate student achievement, maintain records, and communicate progress to parents via conferences, calls, and virtual meetings. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and educational programming, while supervising students during out-of-classroom activities. Participate in curriculum development and professional growth activities to support reflective pedagogy within the Schechter mission.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in related subject from accredited university
- Illinois teaching certificate or equivalent
- Knowledge of and commitment to Jewish practices
- Knowledge of Bible/Talmud content, Jewish holidays, and Jewish practices
