Job Summary
The assistant coach for the 5th/6th grade boys basketball team will maintain a high standard of competition and sportsmanship, instilling values such as time management and communication. Responsibilities include planning practice sessions, executing competitive strategies, and managing player conduct and discipline. Essential qualifications include completion of 60 college credit hours or service as a provisional assistant for a maximum of three school years, along with previous coaching or competitive playing experience. The position is part-time, reviewed annually, and compensated as an extra duty stipend.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of 60 or more college credit hours prior to coaching OR serving as a provisional assistant for no more than THREE school years
- Completion of MSHSAA Requirements under 3.1.5.b
- Possess previous coaching experience, competitive playing experience, or demonstrated knowledge in the sport
- Understanding of the relationship of the sports program to the total school program and its goal
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, small and large groups
- Ability to organize and plan effectively
- Possess an ethical and professional attitude toward colleagues and the policies of the district
- Possess a thorough understanding of, and an ability to relate to, youth
