Job Summary

Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll questions, and general People Operations support. Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, and leave offerings, while supporting the ongoing administration of the company's 401(k) retirement plan. Coordinate employment-based immigration and work authorization processes, partnering with outside immigration counsel and internal stakeholders on documentation and deadlines. Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, support lifecycle changes such as promotions and leaves, and maintain accurate HR documentation within systems. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements while assisting with employee relations matters and escalating complex situations. Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes as the organization scales.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, People Operations, or similar HR role
  • Hands-on experience administering employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and related benefit offerings
  • Experience supporting or administering a 401(k) retirement plan, including employee support and coordination with third-party plan administrators
  • Experience supporting employment-based immigration and work authorization processes
  • Experience coordinating with immigration counsel and employees on documentation, deadlines, and renewals
  • Strong understanding of HR operations across onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and HR documentation
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements
  • Experience working with HRIS and benefits administration platforms
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive employee matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential employee information
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving technology environment
  • Must be able to work onsite in San Francisco, California
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available)

  • Experience supporting employees in California
  • Familiarity with California employment requirements
  • Experience working within an AI, technology, startup, or high-growth organization
  • Experience developing or improving HR processes during periods of rapid organizational growth
  • Experience partnering directly with benefits brokers
  • Experience partnering directly with 401(k) providers and immigration counsel
