Job Summary
Data Center Technician role focused on maintaining operational integrity and regulatory compliance of data center electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems. Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining mechanical (chilled water, HVAC), electrical (UPS, switchgear, transformers, power distribution), and fire life safety systems; reading blueprints/schematics; coordinating with contractors; ensuring uptime and cost efficiency; and supporting predictive/preventive maintenance programs. Requires on-site work in Gainesville, VA; high school diploma (or equivalent) with 2+ years in mechanical/electrical roles within critical facilities; CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E certification; forklift certification; and readiness to work shifts including nights/holidays. Strong communication, problem solving, multitasking, and ability to work in a team environment are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience and a minimum of 2 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (preferably data center, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant)
- CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification during employment
- OSHA forklift certification or ability to obtain after hire
- Demonstrated hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including: Chilled Water Systems, VFDs and Pumps, HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAH, Humidification Systems, Water Heaters, Water/Air filters, BMS and PLC Controls
- Ability to operate in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities
- Shift work may include nights, holidays, and some weekends
