Job Summary
Data Center Technician L1 responsible for the operational integrity of electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems in a data center. Maintains and follows processes to maximize customer uptime, ensures timely identification and repair of data center problems, manages contractor quality, and collaborates with internal customers. Responsibilities include mechanical duties (chilled water systems, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification), electrical duties (power distribution from main switchgear through UPS to customer load), fire life safety duties (sprinkler systems and detectors), reading blueprints and diagrams, inspecting parts, installing components, operating and monitoring facilities systems, analyzing systems for efficiency, and coordinating with contractors for maintenance and upgrades. Requires hands-on experience with critical facilities equipment, strong communication, and ability to work on-site with possible after-hours shifts. Education and certifications specify a High School Diploma; Associate’s degree or equivalent; CPR/First Aid; NFPA70E; OSHA forklift certification. On-site role in Chicago, IL with standard full-time schedule and overtime eligibility. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience (minimum 2 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities)
- CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification during employment
- OSHA forklift certification or ability to obtain after hire
