Job Summary
Program, set up, and optimize 5-axis CNC machining centers to manufacture high-precision tooling and components. Read engineering CAD designs and GD&T requirements, select appropriate tooling and workholding strategies, and conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment. Troubleshoot machining issues, deburr finished components, and recommend process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency while maintaining a safe, organized work environment. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet customer deadlines. Work with advanced Fanuc and Heidenhain-controlled machines, standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to climb stairs and work in a manufacturing environment
- Comfortable working around varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and other manufacturing conditions
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment as required
Desired Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience operating and setting up 5-axis CNC machining centers in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Experience programming using Lemoine and/or PowerMill (preferred)
- Experience with Fanuc and Heidenhain-controlled CNC machines is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of 5-axis machining principles, tooling, machine setups, and workholding techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering CAD designs, and work to tight tolerances
- Experience inspecting precision components using a variety of measuring equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
