Job Summary
Special Education Teacher at Uncommon Schools responsible for developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs, collaborating with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 plans and IEPs, delivering inclusive instruction, differentiating curriculum, and engaging in weekly meetings, professional development, and mentorship. Responsibilities include implementing pull-out/push-in/small group/one-on-one instruction, analyzing student work and assessments to respond to trends, writing goals for IEP meetings, building positive relationships with students and families, and contributing to school-wide culture and instructional goals. Requires a bachelor’s degree, MA-specific licensure or equivalent qualifications for Special Education, MTELs within first year, and eligibility to teach in MA; compensation ranges from $71,000 to $116,000 with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Needed MTELs or state certification tests as applicable for MA
- MA special education license or equivalent license
- Special education qualifications for appropriate grade and severity level
- Must pass MTELs within first year of employment
- SEI endorsement (preferred or required as per MA requirements)
- Certification tests or licenses as per MA state requirements
- Eligibility to teach in MA with required licenses
- Experience in urban K-12 settings (1-2 years preferred)
