Job Summary
Special Education Teacher needed to develop and monitor accommodations for students with special needs in urban K-12 settings. Responsibilities include modifying and differentiating inclusive curricula, collaborating with families and Special Education teams to implement 504 plans and IEPs, teaching pull-out/push-in/small group/one-on-one instruction, analyzing student work and assessments to inform goals, and participating in weekly school-wide meetings to support student achievement and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture. The role requires collaboration with general education teachers, leaders, and families, ongoing data collection to prepare for IEP meetings, and engagement in professional development, mentorship, and coaching. A bachelor's degree is required; MA special education licensure or equivalent, MTELs within the first year, and SEI endorsement are part of the credential path. Compensation ranges from $71,000 to $116,000, with additional benefits and career development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- MA special education license OR Special education license or equivalent issued by another state OR documented completion of approved undergraduate or graduate program in special education
- If not holding any of the above qualifications, must be under direct supervision of a licensed educator and must pass MTELs within the first year (Communications and Literacy Skills; MTEL subject area tests such as English or Mathematics) and obtain SEI endorsement
