Job Summary
Support teachers by participating in instructional opportunities and maintain a learning environment that encourages appropriate standards of behavior and positive social interaction for students. Interact effectively with staff, parents, students, and persons outside the school system while demonstrating good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy. Work with minimum supervision, adapt to unexpected interruptions of the daily work pattern, and demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to team and organizational efforts. Complete an approved training program within three months of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree (preferred) or High School diploma
- Demonstrate literacy skills necessary to work with teachers and students
- Complete a training program approved by Rhode Island Department of Education within three months of employment or similar certification from another state
- Requirements per No Child Left Behind
- Knowledge of health, safety and emergency procedures of the learning environment
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate skills in computer literacy
- Work with minimum supervision
- Ability to adapt to unexpected interruptions of the daily work pattern
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to team efforts and organizational efforts
- Positive attitude
