Job Summary
Conduct electrical and mechanical run tests on HVAC units following installation of structural, mechanical, electrical, and condensing components. Verify job numbers, schematics, and components against BOMs, then perform ground checks, high-voltage phase testing, and Hi Pot validation. Energize units at 24/120 volts to test blowers, fans, sensors, and safety devices while calibrating per specifications. Document test results, measure pressure drops and fan RPMs, adjust gas valves, and inspect for refrigerant or water leaks. Troubleshoot failed units, make defined adjustments, and notify engineering when units are ready for punch-off. Adhere to Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures and maintain clean work areas while operating tools such as multimeters and leak detectors.
Required Qualifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer Skills: excel, lotus notes
- Skilled and experienced with using power, air and hydraulic operated tools common to the trade
- Capability of reading circuit diagrams and schematics, ladder logic diagrams and layout drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot circuits and devices and recommend changes or improvements
- Complete knowledge of refrigeration operation systems: charging and weighting of refrigerant charges
- Understands electrical theory and practice as applied to the operation of such components as electric motors, motor starters, contractors, control relays, time delay relays, circuit breakers, fusing, PLC's, fluid flow and temperature sensors, and other related electrical, pneumatic and mechanical components
- Adherence to the Energy Control Program
- Standard work schedules plus overtime and weekend hours
