3rd Shift - Lathe CNC Machinist

Job Summary

Set up and operate CNC lathe machines, reading and writing M and G code while generating programs from MasterCam or equivalent CAD/CAM software. Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces; adjust machine feed and speed, and change cutting tools according to required machining sequences. Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments, and verify parts before handing them off to inspection. Perform all required maintenance for machines and design fixturing for operations. Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and determine the size and position of cuts. Work under the direction of the Machining Supervisor with a 3rd shift premium of $4.00. Requires 4+ years of CNC lathe programming and operation experience.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of programming using Mastercam or long hand
  • 4+ years set up and operation of CNC Lathes and Mills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to layout features on material using drawings
  • Able to be self-motivated and stay organized
  • Attention to detail and proficient computer skills
  • Able to read and write M and G code
  • Knowledge to generate programs from MasterCam (or equivalent Cad/Cam)
  • Able to set up and run parts complete, to print
  • Able to verify parts machined per print before handing them off to inspection
  • Able to Program using Mastercam or by long hand
  • Able to Set up/ design fixturing for machine operations need to complete part
  • Able to Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
  • Able to Perform all required maintenance for machines
  • Able to Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Able to Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools
  • Able to Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences
  • Able to Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts
