Job Summary
Embed tissue samples, load and unload tissue processors, file blocks and slides, and perform quality control documentation. Maintain clean equipment and work areas while handling hazardous waste in accordance with safety procedures. Assist the Histology department as assigned, troubleshoot daily workflow issues, and maintain communication with supervisors. Follow all regulatory standards including CAP, CLIA, and OSHA while using appropriate personal protective equipment. Work Monday through Friday from 10:00pm to 6:30am in a clinical laboratory environment supporting daily histology operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to accurately enter and verify information in laboratory systems
- Ability to follow written procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and laboratory team members
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds routinely
- Near visual acuity required for specimen handling, embedding, filing, computer use, labeling, and documentation
- Hazardous waste training is required
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior laboratory, healthcare, specimen processing, histology, embedding, or related work experience
