Job Summary
Conduct routine quality and food safety audits on in-process stages, performing direct observations of packaging line setups and operator checks. Execute pre-operative sanitation checks and independent verification of packaging line clearance activities while documenting packaging supply nonconformances via the SCAR process. Verify regulatory quality attributes including lot codes, net contents, labeling, and foreign material controls. Communicate non-conformances by initiating OOS and deviations, and work with QC and Production on exceptions found during receiving, in-process, or customer complaints. Aid in OOS, deviation, and SCAR resolution, and assist in training new hires for QC Auditor I roles. Perform duties in a plant environment with temperatures from 60–90 degrees Fahrenheit and noise levels exceeding 85 dBA, lifting boxes up to 40 pounds. Works 10 pm to 6 am Sunday through Thursday with overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Understanding of in-process applicable company specifications
- Understanding of government (FDA) requirements
- Ability to enforce accept/reject criteria
- Good communication skills
- Ability to interpret measurements and intention of specifications
- Hearing protection capability (required for environment >85 dBA)
- Ability to lift boxes up to 40 pounds
- Ability to perform direct observations of packaging line setup and packaging operator checks
- Ability to document and report packaging supply nonconformance
- Ability to perform pre-operative sanitation checks
- Ability to perform independent verification of packaging line clearance activities
- Ability to conduct verification of regulatory quality attributes such as lot code, net contents, labeling and foreign material controls
- Ability to conduct verification of good documentation practices and reporting of documentation non-conformances
- Ability to work with QC and Production on exceptions that are found during receiving, in-process, or customer complaints
- Ability to conduct pre-operative & operative inspections and swabbing of packaging lines for allergens and microorganisms
- Ability to understand appropriate measures to take when product does/does not meet specification
- Ability to communicate non-conformances by initiating OOS & Deviations
- Ability to document packaging supply non-conformances with the SCAR process
- Ability to aid in OOS, Deviation and SCAR resolution
- Ability to aid in training new hires for QC Auditor I
- Ability to cross train in QC Packaging Technician functions
