3rd Shift Forklift Technician I

Job Summary

Troubleshoot and repair all Distribution Center powered industrial trucks, including forklifts, under time constraints. Complete daily P.I.T. checklists to ensure equipment functionality and report defects to management. Develop a knowledge base of different systems and initiate new procedures to maintain 100% efficiency. Operate P.I.T. equipment safely while following strict safety procedures and guidelines. Maintain an organized work area and promote a safe environment with the Maintenance department. Work full-time shifts in a climate-controlled atmosphere, occasionally outside, with the ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • Two plus years of industrial maintenance experience on forklifts or related equipment (verifiable)
  • 1 year industrial maintenance experience and have certificates of completion for formal schooling in hydraulics, electricity or electronics
  • Proficiency in three of the following seven categories: Electronic/Electrical, Battery Equipment, Other Equipment (scrubber, boomlift, etc.), Machining/Lathe/Mill, MHE Mechanical Systems, Welding, Hydraulics
  • Own set of basic hand tools
  • Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 70 pounds
  • Adequate fitness level to meet the demands of frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing, occasional sitting, stooping and kneeling
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays
  • Must be able to operate P.I.T. equipment
  • Must be able to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per Distribution Center requirements
  • Must be able to work in a climate controlled atmosphere
  • Must be able to work outside of the Distribution Center which may expose them to adverse weather conditions
  • Must be able to work on a platform raised up to 60 feet
  • Must be able to be exposed to moving mechanical parts or equipment, fumes and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA
  • Must be able to handle, package, process, store, dispose or transport hazardous materials
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to operate palletized equipment, machinery or power tools
  • Must be able to repair, maintain or monitor the performance or operation of any equipment
  • Must be able to oversee infrastructure including electric, gas, and water utilities
  • Must be able to extract, compress, process, handle, package, store, dispose, treat or transport potentially volatile, flammable, combustible chemicals
  • Must be able to work in a safe manner
  • Must follow set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety
  • Must maintain an organized work area and promote a safe working environment with the Maintenance department
  • Must follow all Company policies and procedures
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others to minimize potential downtime of equipment
  • Must be able to complete the daily P.I.T. checklist to ensure equipment is working properly and report any defects to management and/or maintenance
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair all Distribution Center powered industrial trucks
  • Must be able to follow work orders to in achieving productivity
  • Must be able to develop knowledge base of different systems within the Distribution Center
  • Must be able to initiate and implement new procedures and create designs to keep present equipment/systems operating at 100% efficiency
  • Must be able to make sure workmanship is of highest quality
  • Must be able to share and express thoughts in a clear and effective manner through verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to exhibit effective listening skills and interact positively with others
  • Must be able to be diplomatic, tactful and professional in all communication and resolve conflicts in a cooperative manner
