Job Summary
Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, scale, paint, and foreign materials from the interior and exterior of railcars and related equipment. Adjust machinery for efficient blasting, perform surface preparation using various media methods, and execute preventative maintenance on blast and recovery systems. Maintain a clean materials area, report potential hazards, and work in teams within adverse weather conditions while lifting up to 50 pounds. This 3rd shift role requires physical stamina, regular attendance, and the ability to climb, lift, and balance safely.
Required Qualifications
- Operate blasting equipment to remove scale, paint and other foreign substances from inside and/or outside of railcars and other materials
- Adjust equipment as necessary to perform efficient and proper blasting
- Surface preparation of non-finished railcars and components using various blast media methods
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures for blast and recovery systems
- The ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
- The ability to lift 50 pounds with proper body mechanics
- Ability to work within a teamwork environment with regular and predictable attendance
- Keep materials area and other work areas clean and orderly and report potential hazards
- Able to pass drug screen, physical
