Job Summary
Assume Chief Responsibilities in accordance with MA state law while performing routine maintenance on boiler equipment and systems, including low-pressure, high-pressure, power, and steam boilers. Replace defective valves, filters, or steam gauges and monitor systems to ensure safe operation through periodic cleaning and water treatment for corrosive deposits. Address equipment failures promptly, adjust fuel and water levels based on pressure and temperature readings, and maintain accurate records of operations and inspections. Comply with all safety regulations regarding hazardous materials and contact supervisors concerning dangerous equipment or violations. Requires a valid 3rd Class Boiler Engineer license and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state Boiler Engineer 3rd Class license
- Technical/vocational school training and experience working with industrial boilers
- Extensive knowledge of industrial boiler operation and maintenance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent mechanical skills
- Ability to follow safety procedures and processes
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and be on-call if necessary
- Physically able to inspect and repair boilers
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time
