Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •Graduation from high school
• •Vocational training in heating and HVAC, electrical, and associated trades
• •Experience in heating and HVAC, electrical, and associated trades
• •Maintenance of a universal CFC certification that is required by the EPA
• •Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina
• •Maintenance of a safe driving record
• •Minimum of a Class B CDL
• •Ability to get a Class A CDL
• •Must follow specific drug testing requirements, procedures and consequences of positive alcohol or drug tests
• •Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including electrical tools, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, welders, pipe threaders, various hand tools, etc.
• •Must be physically able to operate motor vehicles, including light pickup and dump trucks
• •Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• •Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, scaffolding, and/or in tight spaces
• •Requires the ability to read service requests, invoices, logs, diagrams, blueprints, schematics, etc.
• •Requires the ability to prepare billing statements, activity logs and reports according to prescribed formats
• •Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• •Requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
• •Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions
• •Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
• •Considerable knowledge of heating, ventilation and refrigeration theory
• •Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment
• •Considerable knowledge of the design and operation of centrifugal and reciprocal compressors
• •Working knowledge of electricity
• •Working knowledge of the design and operation of pneumatic control systems
• •Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and prescribe repair procedures
• •Ability to follow broad written or oral instructions
• •Ability to follow blueprints and diagrams
• •Ability to analyze building heating and air conditioning requirements and recommend systems or modifications
• •Considerable experience in performing most of the tasks associated with electrical work
• •Possession of a valid class A CDL driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina
• •Must maintain a safe driving record

• •Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including core drills, cherry pickers, scaffolds, electrical tools, etc.

• •Requires the ability to prepare activity logs and reports according to prescribed formats
• •Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• •Requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
• •Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape
• •Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using hand tools
• •Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in electrical installation, maintenance and repair work
• •Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment necessary to electrical work
• •Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment
• •Ability to understand and work from blueprints, schematics, sketches, or pencil drawings
• •Ability to follow oral or written instructions
