Job Summary
Prepares and serves meals in a school food service program in accordance with district guidelines. Follows USDA child nutrition guidelines, uses standardized recipes, maintains quality and minimizes waste, and manages food usage records. Sets up serving lines, operates the POS system, processes free and reduced-cost meal records, performs cash handling duties, and ensures proper sanitization and safety of food service areas. Maintains professional conduct, works as part of a team, communicates effectively, and participates in ongoing training to stay current with professional standards in school food service.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Work skills substantiated by training and/or work experience
- Current health, safety and nutrition certification may be required
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Mathematics skills to calculate totals, percentages, ratios, and portions
- Flexibility, reliability, self-discipline
- Strong customer-service focus
- Criminal background check clear
- Meets mandated health screening requirements
- Basic computer competencies
