Job Summary
Set up and operate gas and electric welding equipment to manufacture metal cabinets and related products under direct supervision. Plan working procedures, tools, and material requirements, then weld sheet metal in various positions after cleaning and preparing surfaces. Use cutting torches to dismantle assemblies and cut materials to size, build up worn surfaces, and work from blueprints and engineering specifications. Maintain a clean work area, dispose of scrap, and assist other areas upon completion of operations. Available for the 2nd shift in Georgetown, TX with extended hours as production demands dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Must demonstrate the capability of welding sheet metal products by passing welding test
- Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications
- Basic reading, writing and numerical ability
- Proficient in using measuring devices as required for product inspection
- Available and willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictates
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be knowledgeable of safe operating rules and procedures and demonstrate competence though written and practical application
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment, especially eye protection due to the considerable glare emitted from work
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull carts with loaded material
- Must be able to prevent injury to others when lifting, carrying, and manipulating lengthy materials
- Must be able to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips
Desired Qualifications
- High school or equivalent education preferred
- Production welding with sheet metal experience preferred
