2nd Shift Supervisor (Assembly)

Job Summary

Supervise production workers and coordinate assigned shift activities to ensure smooth operations, maximum productivity, and adherence to quality and safety standards. Monitor quantity and quality of output, verify products meet specifications, and confirm production schedules are met. Maintain production records, prepare reports, and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes and implement corrections. Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair needs, ensure training skills meet current and future demands, and facilitate effective handovers with other shifts. Advocate safe working practices, maintain good housekeeping, and report hazardous conditions. Work under the direction of the General Foreman or Production Superintendent, requiring high school diploma, 2-3 years manufacturing experience, and ability to operate powered vehicles in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or recognized equivalent
  • 2 to 3 years of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Qualification on subordinate-level jobs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees or organization
  • Ability to calculate proportions, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Have adequate sight, hearing, and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles
  • Sight capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators
  • Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators
  • Sight capabilities to identifying accuracy and neatness of required job assignments
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning, or mixing equipment
  • Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching in all areas due to limited direct supervision and/or observation
  • Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements
  • Hear clearly and understand verbal communication whether it is face to face or via telephone
  • See and understand written communication
  • Climb and descend all ladders or steps (whether fixed or portable) on company facilities in order to access all areas if needed
  • Ability to use caution when lifting or handling objects or equipment to remain within the recommended weight limit of 50 pounds, and get assistance if material is over 50 pounds
  • Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of thirty (30) inches
  • Ability to feel objects, textures, size, and shapes and determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily that of finger tips
  • Ability to grasp tools and use them in a safe manner working manner to avoid injury to self or fellow employees
  • Sight capabilities to safely operate at arms' length machinery and power and/or hand tools needed to accomplish assigned job requirements
  • Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for period of more than one hour
  • Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
  • Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level
  • Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body
  • Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gasses, high heat, or explosives
  • Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dusts
  • Subject to oils and other cutting fluids

Desired Qualifications

  • Some computer experience preferred
