Job Summary
Laser Operator (2nd shift) responsible for operating and maintaining Mazak/YAG laser machines to ensure efficient production and quality. Responsibilities include startup checks, setting up and running jobs, programming/editing for upcoming jobs, performing first article inspections per sampling requirements, maintaining oil, coolant, and filtration per maintenance intervals, cleaning optics, aligning beams through final focus lens via A/B mirrors, and adhering to laser safety protocols per OSHA and ANSI Z136.1. Requires familiarity with Mazak and Fanuc control systems (including L-64 and 160i-LB), experience with Mazak Smart System 2D, FG-CADCAM, AutoCAD, Inventor, reading aerospace blueprints, and holding close tolerances. Must furnish own precision measuring tools and have 3–5 years of laser operation experience, with a High School diploma or GED and demonstrated dependability and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with setups and operations of Mazak and YAG laser machines
- Experience in programming and editing on Mazak and Fanuc L-64; Fanuc Series 160i-LB controllers
- Proficiency in Mazak Smart System 2D, FG-CADCAM, AutoCAD, and Inventor
- Ability to monitor and maintain oil levels, chiller water, and filters as per designated maintenance intervals
- Cleaning optics and aligning beams from the final focus lens through the "A" and "B" axis mirrors
- Strong math skills, experience reading aerospace blueprints, and capable of holding close tolerances
- Proficiency in in-process inspection using precision measuring tools
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 to 5 years of experience in laser operation
- Dependability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic
