Job Summary
2nd Shift CNC Operator position focused on setting up, running, and testing cutting production parts to meet schedules and quality requirements. Responsibilities include operating, setting up, inspecting CNC lathe parts, modifying part programs to print specifications, utilizing Mazatrol programming, creating tooling layouts, handling parts with chucks/steady rests, preparing automated load setups, using an overhead crane, reading blueprints, maintaining equipment, and performing ISO-compliant accuracy checks. Requires formal machining/ manufacturing training (associate degree preferred) and at least 3 years of CNC lathe experience, strong math and metric skills, familiarity with gaging instruments, Mazatrol and EIA/ISO formats, GD&T reading, and good teamwork and communication.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of CNC lathe experience
- Ability to program using different methods to test cut a part to print specs
- Must be familiar with the metric system and have strong math skills
- Familiar with Mazatrol, EIA/ISO formats
- Must be familiar with chuck jaws, steady rests and work holding techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good work ethic and ability to multitask
- Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
- Ability to read blueprints and basic GD&T
- Ability to setup, test cut, and check the entire process to produce the most accurate parts to meet production demand
- Ability to understand cutting conditions and make adjustments to meet production needs
- Ability to take responsibility for parts made and stand behind your work
- Mechanical background is preferred, such as running manual and CNC lathe equipment
- Past training as a lathe operator with programming skills
- Vocational training in related field of CNC Lathe operator
- An associate degree in Machining or Manufacturing
