Job Summary
Assist the Press Operator with setup, make-ready, and operation of a sheet-fed offset printing press for envelope production. Install plates and blankets, monitor color registration and ink coverage, and adjust feeders, suction grippers, and delivery mechanisms. Perform routine cleaning of rollers and ink fountains, replace worn components, and make mechanical adjustments to minimize downtime. Read production orders and work instructions to ensure accurate setup, while inspecting finished envelopes for defects. Maintain a clean, safe work area following all company procedures. Requires 2 years of experience as a 2nd Pressman or Press Assistant with mechanical aptitude.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a 2nd Pressman, Press Assistant, or similar printing press position
- General knowledge of offset printing, printing press operation, and sheet-fed press equipment
- Ability to safely operate and adjust printing press equipment
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools for equipment adjustments and maintenance
- Ability to read job specifications and production instructions accurately
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality printed products
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
