Job Summary
Operate injection molding machines, perform mold changes, startups, shutdowns, and purging between production runs. Conduct basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, maintain stable processes, and interface directly with robotics and automation equipment. Diagnose complex processing issues, determine root causes, and optimize cycle time and quality while minimizing downtime and scrap. Lead advanced troubleshooting efforts, mentor junior technicians, and support engineering with continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and process development. Work 2nd or 3rd shift schedules in Edinburgh, IN, providing the highest level of technical support before engineering involvement.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on plastic injection molding processing experience
- Experience performing mold changes, machine startups, and shutdowns
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience with basic electrical troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of the complete injection molding process from pellet to finished part
- Knowledge of mold tooling, cooling systems, air systems, and tooling components
- Basic understanding of machine and robot sequencing
- Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift schedules
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Engel or Krauss Maffei injection molding machines
- SAPRO robot experience
- Linear robotics setup, programming, and positioning
- Advanced process optimization and troubleshooting experience
- Rubber injection molding experience
- DOE (Design of Experiments) exposure
- MATLAB experience
- Process improvement and continuous improvement experience
- Experience installing specialized tooling including stack molds and knockout systems
