Job Summary
Implement the district's instructional program and educational philosophy by developing effective lesson plans, choosing appropriate materials, and presenting subject matter clearly to meet state standards. Manage the classroom environment through positive discipline techniques, organize procedures for student behavior, and supervise safety during classes and school activities. Coordinate with team members, the librarian, counselors, and parents to support student welfare, communicate progress, and address problems promptly. Maintain accurate records for student evaluation, attendance, textbooks, and parent contacts while adhering to Texas Education Code ethics and professional policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited College or University
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
- Reading Certification for teachers applying to teach K-3 students or currently enrolled
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment
- Adheres to the Texas Education Code of Ethics and supports the District's philosophy
- Report to work daily per your schedule approved by your campus principal
Desired Qualifications
- Five years of successful classroom experience
- Reading Certification for teachers applying to teach Pre-k, Grade 4, and Grade 5
