Job Summary
Educational Assistant supports the classroom teacher by providing instructional support for whole group, small group, and individual students and assisting with classroom management. Responsibilities include typing and duplicating instructional materials, distributing and collecting papers, supervising students during drills, assemblies, field trips, arrival/dismissal, buses, playgrounds, and lunchrooms, assisting with preparation and display of materials, and maintaining confidentiality of student information. Requires completing at least 48 college hours or possessing an associate degree or higher (or a high school diploma/GED with passing Praxis ParaPro), plus fingerprint/background clearance every five years. Must model respectful behavior and perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and building administrator.
Required Qualifications
- Completed at least 48 college semester hours (equivalent to two years of college)
- Obtained an associate's degree or higher; OR High School Diploma or GED AND Pass the Praxis ParaPro Assessment
- Background/fingerprint clearance every five years
- Alternatives acceptable as deemed appropriate by Superintendent
- Experience in supervising or guiding students in a classroom setting (implied by duties)
