Job Summary
Coordinate direct and indirect student services to reduce educational barriers and promote social-emotional growth within the Exceptional Student Services Department. Collaborate with administration, staff, teachers, and families to address identified student needs while monitoring progress across various educational environments. Implement multi-tiered support programs ranging from Tier I prevention initiatives to Tier III community resource partnerships, including crisis intervention, case management, and home visits. Facilitate professional development for staff on social-emotional learning and trauma-sensitive schools, and provide guidance to students and parents outside the instructional day as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Therapist
- Valid Arizona Department of Education certificate for School Counseling, PreK-12 or Social Worker
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
- Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalent
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- May be required to travel to perform work functions
- An understanding of the factors that impact student success
- A background in school counseling
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, County and Municipal statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances and Buckeye Union High School District (BUHSD) policies and procedures pertaining to social service delivery
- Knowledge of systems such as Court, DES, DCS, Law Enforcement and other systems that affect families and youth served by BUHSD
- Knowledge of applicable BUHSD and departmental policies and procedures
- Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals
- Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others
- Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Principles and practices of program administration
- Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis
- Best practices, trends and emerging technologies
- Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment
- Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment
- Demonstrated ability to provide oral and written communication
- Translation in Spanish and English preferred
- Must be able to prioritize tasks assigned by supervisor
- Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
- Lift on a regular basis 30-50 pounds
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus
- Hearing ability to monitor presence and activity of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be available for weekend shifts
