Job Summary
Plan instruction and assessment for supplemental enrichment lessons in Spanish language (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and culture. Assist the licensed teacher in supervising students during enrichment lessons and in maintaining a positive learning environment. Work with the licensed teacher to adapt enrichment lessons to meet the individual learning needs of all students. Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members. Utilize identified computer-based language acquisition programs to assist in lesson facilitation, including setting up students and maintaining their profiles. Implement lessons that connect Spanish language learning to associated cultures and model character education, including bullying prevention and conflict resolution. Engage in professional learning and utilize feedback from peer and administrative observations to grow professionally. Follow safety instructions and District policies while reporting suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law. Submit required reports promptly and fulfill other duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or their designees.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Colorado Substitute Authorization from the Colorado Department of Education
- Proficiency in the Spanish language in speaking, listening, reading and writing
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the Spanish language in speaking, listening, reading and writing
- Ability to implement 504's and behavior support plans
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Ability to promote and follow Board and District policies, Superintendent policies and building/department procedures
- Ability to work with students with diverse needs at various levels
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal relations and oral and written communication skills
