Job Summary
Drive a school transportation vehicle along daily routes and day trips, picking up and discharging students at designated stops. Coordinate athlete transport for local and distance sports events, and plan routes for student and teacher field trips. Pre-trip the vehicle, fuel it 15 minutes prior to departure, and conduct daily safety inspections. Load and unload students in wheelchairs on special ramp buses, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and report mechanical repairs. Fill out time sheets and mileage reports, attend required safety drills and training, and operate a two-way radio. Maintain order among passengers and adhere to Virginia Motor Vehicle Code.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Virginia Driver's License
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air-brake endorsement
- One or more years of bus driving experience
- Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years
- Must be able to work various shifts
- Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified
- Must not have an air brakes restriction
Desired Qualifications
- Class A or Class B CDL
- Passenger and Air Brake endorsements
- Minimum of three years' driving experience
- Two or more years of experience working with children
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air-brake endorsement preferred
