Job Summary
Part-time ELL Level 4 morning teacher at Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences (SCALE) in Somerville, MA. Responsible for creating and delivering student-centered lessons for adult learners at low intermediate to advanced English proficiency levels, aligning instruction with MA DESE ELP standards, and integrating technology to enhance digital literacy in preparation for college and workplace demands. Collaborates with department staff to ensure rigorous, competency-based instruction; uses diagnostic and progress assessments; supports goal setting and continuous improvement in language skills across reading, writing, speaking, and listening; and participates in department meetings and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with Adult Basic Education and ELL
- Strong knowledge of ELL instruction including the four domains of language
- Demonstrated proficiency with digital literacy tools
- Knowledge of Massachusetts DESE ACLS program guidelines and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
- Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff and participate in professional development
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive teaching practices
- MA CORI clearance or ability to obtain
- Experience designing and implementing standards-based, student-centered instruction for adult learners
