Job Summary
ABE Education and Career Advisor (Evenings) supports adult learners in SCALE programming by advising on education and career goals, performing intake and placement into ABE classes, delivering career exploration and job search services, organizing informational sessions, and collaborating with teachers and partners to promote student success. The role involves counseling, referrals for learner needs, maintaining learner records, developing education and career plans, delivering workshops, and participating in department projects under the Director of Continuing Education. Requires evening/part-time availability across the academic year, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and commitment to SCALE’s mission.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Counseling or related field
- Two years successful and relevant counseling experience in adult education
- Experience working with adult learner population as well as the 16-21 year old adult population
- Experience working with trauma victims
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, and administrators
- Oral and aural fluency in Haitian Creole, Portuguese or Spanish a plus
- Excellent organizational, time management, oral and written communication skills in English
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office suite, internet/email, and career development databases
- Commitment to the mission of SCALE
- Proven history of successful collaboration
