Job Summary
Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical motors, light fixtures, and all school equipment while adhering to trade practices and code compliance. Diagnose and resolve problems using measuring and testing equipment, and assist other skilled trades with electrical repairs and installations. Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for lighting circuits, conduit, duct systems, transformers, and automated security or fire alarm systems. Design and construct electrical projects such as computer facility wiring and corridor lighting changes, while managing spare parts inventory and maintaining required records.
Required Qualifications
- A City of Dubuque, State of Iowa, and Electrical Journeyman License/Registration
- in-depth knowledge of all aspects of electrical work and code compliance
- minimum of three years' experience in commercial and or educational environment as an electrician
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Experienced with 120, 208 volt, single phase, 208-480 3 phase voltage, low voltage, data, and qualified to work in accordance with the National Electric Safety Code

- Communicate effectively, both oral and in writing
- Lift heavy objects and perform heavy manual labor
