Job Summary
Assist teachers and supervisors with curriculum work, special projects, and language acquisition for students with educational needs. Monitor student activities to ensure safety, maintain classroom order, and provide personal care for students with severe needs. Prepare instructional materials, supervise duty areas including playgrounds and lunchrooms, and facilitate field trips and extra-curricular activities. Submit reports on incidents, maintain legible student records, and participate in safety drills and Medicaid reimbursement logging. This 10-month, non-exempt position offers a base salary of $15.49/hr plus experience-based increases. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, and candidates must hold an AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and First Aid/CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- High School diploma or equivalent
- First Aid/CPR Certification and AED
- Ability to speak fluent Spanish
- Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention certification
- Experience working with school-age children
- Experience working with children with severe needs
- Professional development history which shows knowledge concerning students with severe needs
- Experience working with students in various levels of instruction
- Computer skills in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and student data systems
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with working with students in a reading intervention classroom
