Job Summary

Assist special education teachers with individualized instruction, IEP implementation, and classroom setup across regular, ESL, and special needs settings. Provide direct support for student personal needs including hygiene, feeding, and adaptive equipment while monitoring behavior and safety in classrooms, playgrounds, and cafeterias. Accompany students during inclusion, administer tests, and collaborate with therapists to modify lessons and document progress. Prepare instructional materials, organize workstations, and maintain student records under teacher direction. Participate in PBIS supervision, safety drills, and the Medicaid Reimbursement program. This 10-month, non-exempt role includes 29 hours per week at $17.09/hr plus experience increment, with a requirement for AZ DPS clearance and First Aid/CPR certification. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • First Aid/CPR Certification and AED
  • Ability to speak fluent Spanish
  • Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention certification
  • Excellent communication skills (written or oral)
  • Experience working with school-age children
  • Experience working with children with severe needs
  • Professional development history which shows knowledge concerning students with severe needs
  • Experience working with students in various levels of instruction
  • Computer skills in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and student data systems
  • Ability to read and interpret general documents
  • Ability to write general correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively with others
  • Ability to interpret assortment of instructions
  • Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues
  • Close vision to read handwritten or typed material
  • Ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to push or lift up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Non-Exempt, 10 month position, 186 days
  • 29 hours/wk
