Job Summary
Coordinate the middle school cross country team in full compliance with MSHSAA standards, supervising students at practices and contests while managing transportation, facilities, and game logistics. Organize regular practice schedules to develop student-athlete potential, emphasizing safety precautions and injury management procedures. Conduct team activities ethically, exemplifying high sportsmanship standards, and assist in systematic equipment returns per the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook. Complete required MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles and Sports First Aid courses, fulfilling 8 hours of professional development through district, school, and external meetings. This seasonal role supports program excellence and alignment with district goals.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of particular sport (philosophy & coaching)
- Must successfully complete the MSHSAA /NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses
- A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift objects of at least 25 pounds
- Must successfully complete 8 contact hours of professional development (District level mtgs –4hrs; School level mtgs - 3hrs; Outside mtgs/Clinics –1hr)
