Job Summary
Administer first aid and medical care for injured or ill students and staff, provide physician ordered care or procedures, conduct screening programs and assure compliance with state health and immunization laws. Maintain health records, health action plans and billing for Medicaid reimbursable procedures. This role supports the Durango Big Picture High School and The Hub Therapeutic Program with a 0.6 FTE schedule from August 24, 2026, offering full benefits and a $1080 one-time bonus.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid
- Criminal Background Check
- Ability to assess and manage a medical or physical emergency
- Knowledge of Universal Precautions
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building/department procedures
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
- Ability to work with children and children with special needs
- Knowledge of medical, developmental, emotional, and behavioral disabilities
- Consultation skills
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills
- Ability to grow and develop knowledge, skills, and attitude through professional development
Desired Qualifications
- Training as one of the following: LPN, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant
- Operating knowledge of medical equipment (B/P, nebulizer, glucose meter, audiometer, etc.)
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
