Job Summary
Long-term leave position for SY 2025-2026 at Hoboken Public School District seeking a K-6 elementary teacher; responsibilities include coordinating classroom tasks, developing lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to the New Jersey Learning Standards, providing individualized and small group instruction, monitoring student progress, communicating with parents, maintaining records in the Genesis system, collaborating with staff, upholding school rules and policies, and pursuing ongoing professional growth while delivering a positive learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- NJ Elementary Teacher K-6 (1001) Standard, Provisional, CEAS or CE and TOSD (2475)
- Long Term Leave Position for SY 2025-2026
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Criminal history background check, physical clearance and PTT
- Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Coordinate classroom tasks as outlined by the building principal
- Work to achieve the New Jersey Learning Standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Set specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans; and carry through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives
- Monitor students' academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction. Effectively communicate standards and progress with parents regularly
- Maintain productive relationships with parents and other staff members
- Maintain records of students' educational progress in the Genesis system and summarize as appropriate
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning
- Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students
- Maintain professional competence and pursue continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities
- Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees, and other school system groups
- Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy
- Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as may be assigned by district administration
