Job Summary

Manage exceptional children referrals and coordinate evaluation processes, ensuring all required components are completed within the 90-day timeline. Perform data management duties by entering information timely after IEP meetings, maintaining accurate logs, and conducting final compliance checks on paperwork in CECAS. Schedule and facilitate initial referrals, reevaluations, and IEP meetings while monitoring progress reports and quarterly updates. Serve as the primary contact for EC issues, mediate parent concerns, and collaborate with school psychologists, related service personnel, and administrators. Conduct staff development on procedures and guidelines, maintain headcount rosters, and support continuous quality improvement within the school organization.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree from accredited institution
  • License in area of Special Education
  • Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
  • Specialized training in compliance, regulations, and special education law
  • Writing and speaking skills
  • Understanding of instructional implications of test data
  • Exemplary leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary organizational skills
  • Computer/typing skills
  • Legible copy of official transcripts for all degree levels
  • Copy of current NC Teaching License in the EC area (License cannot be Initial or Residency)
  • Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies

Desired Qualifications

  • Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
