Job Summary

Manage exceptional children's case files by serving as the primary contact for referrals and issues, coordinating with school psychologists, specialists, and outside agencies to ensure timely evaluation and IEP meetings. Perform data management duties including entering data after meetings, maintaining accurate rosters, and conducting quarterly progress report reviews. Monitor all referrals from initial review through annual reviews, ensuring strict compliance with regulations, due process notices, and state timelines. Act as a liaison to interpret parent rights, mediate concerns, and facilitate transitions between placement continua. Provide staff development on procedures and guidelines while maintaining accurate logs and computer-based records in CECAS.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree from accredited institution
  • License in area of Special Education
  • Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
  • Specialized training in compliance, regulations, and special education law
  • Writing and speaking skills
  • Understanding of instructional implications of test data
  • Exemplary leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary organizational skills
  • Computer/typing skills
  • Legible copy of official transcripts for all degree levels
  • Copy of current NC Teaching License in the EC area (License cannot be Initial or Residency)
  • Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies

Desired Qualifications

  • Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
