Job Summary

Manage exceptional children's cases by serving as the primary contact for referrals and issues, coordinating with school psychologists, related service personnel, and outside agencies. Complete data entries following IEP meetings, monitor evaluations for accuracy, and schedule interpretative conferences immediately upon assessment completion. Facilitate all initial referrals, reevaluations, and manifestation determination meetings while ensuring strict adherence to the 90-day timeline and DEC Due Process requirements. Maintain accurate IEP logs, quarterly progress reports, and headcount rosters, conducting final compliance checks on all paperwork before closing forms in CECAS. Serve as a liaison to interpret parent rights, mediate conflicts, and lead staff development on procedures and guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree from accredited institution
  • License in area of Special Education
  • Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
  • Specialized training in compliance, regulations, and special education law
  • Writing and speaking skills
  • Understanding of instructional implications of test data
  • Exemplary leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary organizational skills
  • Computer/typing skills
  • Legible copy of official transcripts for all degree levels
  • Copy of current NC Teaching License in the EC area (License cannot be Initial or Residency)
  • Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies

Desired Qualifications

  • Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
